Artists from across the country will gather for a four-day Painting Fest to capture the natural beauty of Penn Valley Park and downtown Kansas City competing for $4,000 in prizes. The event will conclude with a gala reception and art auction.
A Kansas City gallery, Buttonwood Art Space, aims to raise awareness of autism and its rising numbers in the U.S.A. through artworks exploring textures, visual and sensory expressions. Net sales will benefit an international charity, Golden Hat Foundation, started by actress Kate Winslett. Smart phone accessible audio recordings accompany each artwork adding another dimension to the works.
Never without a camera, for decades former Kansas City Mayor Richard Berkley has captured portraits of politicians, leaders, sport stars and celebrities. He has taken thousands of pictures of all kinds of people over the years networking and generating goodwill. A portion of his collection is now on display at Buttonwood Art Space through the end of May.
Art Competition and Exhibit, Visions of the Flint Hills, is open for art submissions. The annual Exhibit contains art depicting the Flint Hills area of Kansas. Artists may apply until August 10, 2013.
Local school children in Kansas City to sell art through Buttonwood Financial Group and its sister company, Buttonwood Art Space during May, 2012. Additional art sales to benefit PE4life, a national 501c3 organization which helps with physical education programs in schools across the nation, providing tools for PE instructors, coaches and other sports activities.
The Czech & Slovak Club of Greater Kansas City is excited to present Czech & Slovak Illustrations and Art at the Buttonwood Art Space. The main exhibit will be the award-winning collection of illustrations by Slovak artists in The Biennial of Illustrations Bratislava. The Opening Reception will take place on August 5, 2011 from 6pm-9pm. The show will be on display until August 26, 2011.
The 10,000 acre Tallgrass Prairie National Preserve and the surrounding Flint Hills are the largest remaining parcel of the tallgrass prairie that once covered 140 million acres in North America. In 2008, the Tallgrass Prairie was named one of the eight wonders of the State of Kansas. VISIONS OF THE FLINT HILLS BENEFIT AND SALE is a juried exhibit featuring art of the Flint Hills.
