This will help convey the right message - that the recipient is appreciated - without an ethical dilemma or embarrassment.
Selection - Gifts come in all sorts of shapes and sizes. To select the right ones, gift-givers should ask themselves: Is the gift gender-specific or gender-neutral? Does it take cultural and religious differences into account? What sort of time investment is needed to purchase, wrap and send the gift? Does it need to be mailed or hand-delivered? Where can it be purchased? Is it available online? These questions can help narrow down the possibilities.
Timing - Allow time for purchasing, wrapping, mailing or presenting. If hand-delivering, check with the recipient or recipient's assistant to find out the most convenient time. If mailing perishable items, such as fruit baskets, make sure the business will be open and the recipient will not be on vacation during the estimated delivery.
