Business Secretary Vince Cable Pays Visit To Eutechnyx Newcastle HQ
The Business Secretary visits the Auto Club Revolution publisher's Newcastle studios to observe how Eutechnyx is creating a European online publishing powerhouse with the assistance of the Regional Growth Fund.
- (1888PressRelease) March 15, 2012 - Newcastle, UK - Eutechnyx, one of the world's leading independent game developers, was visited by The Right Honourable Vince Cable MP last Friday, 9th March. The Business Secretary took time to meet with staff and discuss how the development of the company's free-to-play online racing game and car community, Auto Club Revolution, is helping to generate jobs and create opportunities within the North East.
Dr Cable took some time out of a busy schedule of meetings to personally witness how the development of the game is coming along, and to discuss how the Regional Growth Fund has helped Eutechnyx create jobs within its development, marketing and publishing arms that will see Auto Club Revolution released to a worldwide audience later in 2012. As well as a guided tour, in which he met members of the development team who had joined the company through Eutechnyx' Level Up graduate programme, Dr Cable was able to observe the results of the company's close collaboration with over 50 of the world's leading car makers, when he experienced the extremely rare car, the BMW 1 Series M Coupe, before comparing the experience with an identical car in the Auto Club Revolution game world.
Business Secretary Vince Cable said "Eutechnyx is an exciting company that is at the cutting edge of video game technology, and have worked closely with the motor industry to develop their new game. The firm has received a conditional offer of support from the Regional Growth Fund which they've been able to use to press ahead with the development of their project, and importantly, create new jobs which will help kick start the local economy. Innovative and creative projects such as this, is exactly the type of bids I want the Regional Growth Fund to be supporting."
Darren Jobling, Eutechnyx COO, commented "Having Dr Cable visit the Newcastle HQ, and see Auto Club Revolution in action, allowed us to highlight how Eutechnyx is pioneering a new wave of innovation in the worldwide digital economy." He continued, "Products like Auto Club Revolution will be essential to the future success of the UK and the Government's Regional Growth Fund support acknowledges that potential."
Eutechnyx has been steadily ramping up staffing in the new publishing arm, with the appointment of 26 new team members over the last nine weeks. They are currently recruiting senior and team roles in development, marketing, customer service, player acquisition, brand management, localisation, fraud and payment management, community and social media management, as well as roles in creative services.
