Bulky Boy Clothing Company Debuts The New "Torn" Clothing Line With Its Sponsorship of SCC Middleweight Champion Bristol Marunde
Bulky Boy Clothing Company backed a winner with their sponsorship of MMA fighter Bristol Marunde, as he defeated Jay Silva for the Middleweight Championship in the Superior Cage Combat, held at the New Orleans Arena, Las Vegas, Nevada on Friday, November 4, 2011.
- San Diego, CA (1888PressRelease) November 15, 2011 - The company used the opportunity to debut its new "Torn" design by outfitting Bristol Marunde for the SCC fight.
Marunde and his entourage debuted the new "Torn" clothing line design by Bulky Boy Clothing Company with their walk on appearance at the historic fight at the New Orleans Arena. The clothing line features the distinctive Bulky Boy icon - with shaved head, strong jaw and neck rolls. (The neck rolls indicate size: one neck roll for 1XL, 2 neck rolls for 2XL and up to 6 neck rolls for the powerfully massive 6XL) The "Torn" shirt was designed specifically for Marunde and the SCC Middleweight Championship Fight. It will be available to the public by mid November.
"Bulky Boy was very proud to sponsor Bristol Marunde for his Middleweight title fight. He exemplifies who we think the Bulky Boy brand was made for - big, strong, confident and living at the top of his game," said Kit Kantner, President of Bulky Boy Clothing Company.
This was the first title fight in Superior Cage Combat history - the middleweight division featuring Bristol Marunde vs. Jay Silva. It was a very important career fight for both fighters. Jay Silva came into this fight with two recent losses in the UFC to C.B. Dollaway and Chris Leben, and a significant loss in Bellator to Hector Lombard. It was critical to Silva's career that he win this fight to get a reasonable chance to make a UFC comeback
Marunde had 52 fights on his resume coming into the fight and has been on a winning streak - with a 15-6-0 record and winning the last 9 out of 10 fights. An SCC victory would propel Marunde to national recognition as a major force in the MMA world.
After four-plus rounds, Silva almost ended the duel with a sinister right hand. The punch badly wobbled Marunde and drew blood, but the Reign MMA fighter simply couldn't put away the more versatile Marunde. "I never felt in danger though he landed some good shots," the Team Throwdown fighter said afterward. "It just motivated me to keep going."
The three ringside judges awarded Marunde a unanimous decision via tallies of 49-46 and 48-47 (twice). Sherdog.com saw it 48-47 for Marunde, who improved to 15-6.
"Marunde earned the title by beating Silva in standup, on the mat, with superior strength and vastly superior cardio. Marunde is also the master tactician, adapting his strategies throughout a fight," said Kantner.
