Budget Launches 18 and Up Hourly Rental Program in Lawrence, KS
Budget Rent a Car of Lawrence launches hourly rental program for students, faculty, and staff of Kansas University and residents of Lawrence, KS that are 18 years of age and older.

The program, aptly called "Budget By The Hour" will be open to all students, faculty, and staff of Kansas University and residents of Lawrence, KS who are 18 years of age and older. This hourly rental program is the first of its kind in Lawrence offering members a convenient and cost-effective transportation option.
For Out-of-State students, especially those who may live across the country, it can be impractical to bring a car to school in Lawrence, Kansas. The Budget By The Hour Program offers the convenience of having a car on campus without the hassle of transporting a vehicle across the country. Members can enjoy the convenience of having a vehicle when they need it without the cost of owning and maintaining it themselves.
The Budget By The Hour vehicles will be parked at the Budget location at 711 West 23rd Street, in the Malls Shopping Center. Vehicles will be available for rental Monday through Friday between 7:30 am and 6:00 pm and between 8:00 am and 12:00 noon on Saturday.
Renters will need to apply and be approved for membership before they can proceed with any rentals. To apply, renters can visit the Budget Rent A Car of Lawrence location located at 711 West 23rd Street, in the Malls Shopping Center or call (785) 331-2722. There is a one-time application fee of $20 and an annual membership fee of $50. Budget will waive both the application fee and the annual membership fee on applications submitted before Friday, December 31st, 2010.
Rental rates start at $10/hour with a maximum of $60/day. All rates include gas, 200 free miles per day, and 24 hour roadside assistance within Kansas State and the Kansas City Metro Area. Vehicles can be reserved for as short as one hour or for up to a maximum of three days.
Members can also sign up for Pre-Paid Membership Plans of $50/month, $100/month, or $150/month. Students who opt for the Pre-Paid Membership Plan will have their annual membership fee waived and received 10%, 12.5% or 15% off the regular rate, respectively. These plans are perfect for savvy students who plan to use a vehicle a few times a month.
