This is the theological conference you've been hoping for!
Lincoln, NE (1888PressRelease) July 30, 2009 - On October 18-20, 2009, St. Mark’s United Methodist Church in Lincoln, Nebraska will host a first of its kind national theological conference. What makes it so unique? It’s the first time leading theologians from all major denominations will meet to discuss a single topic: The Bible and the American Future.
Our twelve keynote speakers include Walter Brueggemann, Ben Witherington, Dominic Crossan, Robert Jewett, Darrel Bock, Terence Fretheim, Richard Horsley, Jacqueline Lapsley, Kathleen O’Connor, Sandra Richter, J.J.M. Roberts, and Kenneth Vaux – all widely known for their contributions to biblical studies.
These bible scholars from a variety of religious traditions will examine this timely topic, bringing light to what Torah and prophets, Jesus and Paul, and other biblical writings can reveal to guide us to a more responsible public ethic…to cooperation rather than division, and a more realistic vision for the future.
Conference attendees will be able to purchase a professionally published book containing the lecture discussions of all 12 speakers. Cokesbury will host a bookstore on-site throughout the conference.
