Bruce Wood Painting Wins Award At The Cape Cod Art Association
Contemporary impressionist painter Bruce Wood, has won an award for his painting "A Sailing Day." The acrylic painting was juried into the Breath Of Spring exhibition on view until March 19, 2011.
- Boston, MA-NH (1888PressRelease) March 01, 2011 - Bruce Wood has been awarded an award in his first exhibition at The Cape Cod Art Association. His painting "A Sailing Day" received Honorable Mention in the Best of Oil/Acrylic Painting category at the Breath Of Spring exhibition. The show runs from February 4- March 19, 2011.
"A Sailing Day" depicts a hillside coastal village overlooking the ocean, and is rendered in Wood's signature style which combines traditional impressionist techniques with energetic rhythmic textures.
Breath Of Spring is an open exhibition, with artists from all over New England entering their artworks to be juried by artists Ann Boucher, Kelly Knowles and Jim Pennypacker. Eighty-eight artworks were selected for the show.
With this honor, Bruce Wood joins the ranks of established New England realist painters who have congregated on the beautiful shores of Cape Cod.
Bruce Wood is a Boston native who moved to Chicago in the 1970's to study at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, where he received a Master of Fine Arts Degree. He stayed in the Midwest, opening the former Fenway Galleries in Chicago and Southwest Michigan. He is widely known for his paintings of Lake Michigan, which are in collections across the world.
He recently moved back to Massachusetts and is now painting coastal views of Cape Cod and New England. Selections of this new work will be included in the Cape Cod Art Association's forthcoming exhibitions.
The Cape Cod Art Association is a non-profit membership group continuously operating since its inception in 1948. It serves its members and community with a variety of fine art programs and events. Its custom designed facilities include three galleries for monthly exhibitions and two studios for classes, demonstrations and workshops in a variety of art media.
