  • (1888PressRelease) January 23, 2017 - Maplewood, NJ - Bruce H. Levitt, Managing Partner, Levitt & Slafkes, P.C, was recently profiled on NJTV where he discussed the rise and fall of the Home Affordable Modification Program (HAMP). The HAMP program ended on December 31, 2016 but helped roughly 1.7 million people nationally. HAMP will be replaced by a new federal assistance program in the near future.

According to Levitt, "I would always pre-screen every client to see if they could afford to make a mortgage payment." He continues, "HAMP helped perhaps one out of three clients who needed mortgage help."

Recently, one in every 597 New Jersey homes had a foreclosure filing. New Jersey currently leads the nation with a 5.79 percent foreclosure rate. As Levitt discussed the flaws of the HAMP, he is hopeful the new program will be able to help more of his clients.
