• Experts recommend parents to update their child's fingerprint identification once a year; this is because even though fingerprints are formed when a child is still in the womb, children's fingerprints do change over time. The best analogy is to think of a balloon, as the child grows the balloon is inflated more and more, and thus the pattern on the fingers distort as the child grows. This is why it is recommended that every child has their fingerprint identification updated yearly.
