(1888PressRelease) August 10, 2011 - The new Canterbury store is one of many new stores which are set to open before the end of 2011. The 25 000 square foot store is set to open on Friday 26th August taking the total number of Range outlets to 52 across the UK, the fourth store this year.

The old PC World site will become the new store for The Range which has been completely refurbished and also features a 20 000 square foot mezzanine floor.

As well as bringing The Range to Canterbury; the venture has also created 150 part and full-time jobs.

The Range is owned and run by Plymouth-based entrepreneur Chris Dawson and is recognised for offering more than 65,000 quality products across 16 departments including; arts & crafts, garden, furniture, homeware, leisure and DIY at affordable prices.

Chris Dawson, owner and founder of The Range, commented: "We have finally opened a store in Canterbury after many years of trying and being inundated with requests from local residents asking when we would be opening a store in their town!"

Thanks to its competitive prices, The Range has thrived during the past few years while some of its famous retail rivals have struggled. Nearly all of The Range's new stores are in spaces left vacant by victims of the recession, notably MFI and Woolworths - while many ex-MFI and Woolworth's staff have returned to their old workplace as an employee of The Range.

Chris further commented: "It's not only fantastic to open a store in Canterbury, but also create so many jobs at the same time - It is a great boost for the local economy, particularly in these tough times."
