Brick Is The Star Performer At The RIBA Stirling Prize
Built with Ibstock Bricks, Guildford Education Campus in Surrey is shortlisted for the RIBA Stirling Prize.
- (1888PressRelease) November 17, 2010 - Brick showed that it is still the building material of choice for Britain's leading architects after it featured prominently in the 2010 RIBA Stirling Prize shortlist.
Three out of the six finalists for the prestigious RIBA Stirling Prize, which is run by RIBA and awarded to the architect of the best new European building built or designed in Britain, used brick in the building's design, with one of the projects, Christ's College School by Architect DSDHA, using Ibstock bricks.
As one of the largest corporate supporters of RIBA, Ibstock has been working with the organisation for many decades to highlight the versatility and beauty of brick in building design.
Andrew Halstead-Smith, marketing manager at Ibstock, commented: "Ibstock has always been a major supporter of RIBA and we were thrilled that some of these outstanding buildings were built with brick, including one made with Ibstock brick, which is great news.
"Due to its versatility and sustainable credentials, brick has been the material of choice for architects for a long time, but it is great to see that it remains at the heart of the very best in building design."
