Brazil Moves $5.6 Billion in Exports of Machinery and Equipment During the First Half of 2022
A growth of 29% compared to the same period in 2021; Only in the negotiations with Mexico, the trade flow in the first six months of the year was $239 million.

Holder of the ninth world economy with a GDP of $1.87 trillion, the machinery and equipment sector exported a total of $5.6 billion in the first half of this year, a volume 29% higher than in 2021. Of that, in 2022, Mexico imported $239.9 million, an increase of 26.2% compared to the first half of 2021. Among the main imported segments are Road Machinery (26.7%), Machine-Tools and Integrated Manufacturing Systems (8.6%), and Agricultural Machinery and Implements (8.4%).
Mixed economy organizations, class associations, and the Brazilian government have created successful initiatives to stimulate exports and bring the foreign market closer to national suppliers. Programs such as BMS – Brazil Machinery Solutions, a partnership between ApexBrasil - Brazilian Agency for the Promotion of Exports and Investments and ABIMAQ - Brazilian Association of Machinery and Equipment Industry, have promoted Brazilian companies by organizing trade missions and sponsoring their participation in important international events.
In the first half of 2021 alone, 13 events were held in agriculture, poultry, metalworking, textiles, food, plastics, and mining.
Patrícia Gomes, Director of the Foreign Market of the Brazilian Association of the Machinery and Equipment Industry (ABIMAQ), explains,
“Actions such as those supported by Brazil Machinery Solutions are very strategic since they demonstrate the importance of foreign trade as a determining part of the Brazilian policy foreign. BMS has invested in fairs, the development of market studies, and business conferences, taking advantage of the demand for international participation and facilitating international mobility. The incentive for exports -including small and medium-sized companies in the sector responsible for generating employment in the country-brings important results to the economy.”
