Brawny Industrial(TM) Wipers To The Rescue To Support Tornado Relief In Joplin
Georgia-Pacific, along with other major Atlanta-based companies, took part in an "airlift of support" for Joplin tornado victims this past Monday, June 20, 2011. Onboard the flight were several thousand pounds of donated Brawny Industrial™ wipers from Georgia -Pacific Professional as well as Georgia-Pacific's Brawny® towels.
- Atlanta, GA (1888PressRelease) June 22, 2011 - For the past several months, employees at Georgia-Pacific have been busy working to support the tornado victims of Joplin, Mo. and the southern states of Ala., Ark., Ga., N.C., and Tenn. To further the relief efforts, Georgia-Pacific, along with other major Atlanta-based companies, took part in an "airlift of support" for Joplin tornado victims this past Monday, June 20, 2011. Onboard the flight were several thousand pounds of donated Brawny Industrial™ wipers from Georgia -Pacific Professional as well as Georgia-Pacific's Brawny® towels.
Employee volunteers from The Home Depot's Atlanta headquarters flew to Joplin, courtesy of Delta Air Lines Inc., to install "Blue Roofs" (blue tarps) over damaged homes and help with debris clean-up. Additionally, Chick-fil-A and Coca-Cola provided volunteers with food and water.
"The Home Depot and Georgia-Pacific have worked together for years to provide families with building products for constructing and remodeling their homes and their communities," said Curley Dossman, president of the Georgia-Pacific Foundation. "Taking part in this relief effort with Home Depot and other Atlanta companies continues our support for disaster victims in Joplin as they rebuild their community."
Kelly Caffarelli, president of The Home Depot Foundation, said, "The Home Depot's associates in Atlanta have been asking for the opportunity to go to Joplin to help the community and their fellow associates. Thanks to the generosity of Atlanta companies like Delta and Georgia-Pacific, we're making that happen today."
Earlier this month, Georgia-Pacific's Muskogee, Okla., mill partnered with international relief organization Feed The Children to donate cases of tissue products from the mill. Feed The Children is distributing those products as needed in the Joplin area. Also supporting the Joplin relief efforts is an assortment of Dixie® paper plates, cups, cutlery and napkins, and other paper products donated recently by Georgia-Pacific to Convoy of Hope, another relief organization.
