  • (1888PressRelease) May 17, 2012 - Lulea, Sweden - The Brazilian government makes a record investment for blind children when purchasing 1.500 Braille embossers to be distributed in the country's school system. It is the biggest order of Braille embossers ever made.

The Swedish Braille printer company Index Braille was chosen in favor of other well-known Braille printer manufactures to fulfill this important order. Index Braille is the main global manufacturer of Braille printers, covering a third of the world's market.

"Literacy is as important for blind as it is for seeing people. It is the basis for education and a successful career. Index Braille's aim is to provide Braille and Braille printing products, and consequently a better life, to as many blind people in the world as possible." says Bjorn Lofstedt, CEO and founder of Index Braille.

The Brazilian government chose the Braille printer Index Basic V4. It is a powerful, portable braille printer that is already running in many schools around the world. Extraordinary performance at a competitive price has made Basic-D V4 the most sought after Braille printer in the world.

    - Basic-D is easy to use and you can be connected to any computer. Teachers can easily print their ordinary Word or Excel documents to Braille without any prior knowledge of Braille or Braille printers, and hand it out to their visually impaired pupils, says Bjorn Lofstedt.

The 1.500 Basic-D Braille printers will be delivered to the Brazilian schools from May through August 2012.

Index Braille's Braille printers are globally renowned for their user friendliness, cutting edge technology and modern design. Recently, the new Braille Box V4 was awarded the Red Dot award for product design. It is also nominated for The Great Design Award, the Swedish engineering business' most prestigious design award.
