Bra Recyclers Host Booth At AZ Ultimate Women's Expo, April 26-27
The Bra Recyclers host booth and bra drive at the AZ Ultimate Women's Expo to bring awareness to domestic violence and collecting recycled bras to benefit local charities.
- Phoenix-Mesa, AZ (1888PressRelease) March 07, 2014 - Underwire bras, strapless bras, training bras, sports bras, push up bras, full support bras, convertible bras, maternity and nursing bras, front closure bras, mastectomy bras, padded bras - the list of bras available today is endless. There's even a male bra to "flatten and conceal." Is it any wonder that the average woman owns nine bras but only wears six of them regularly?
Why let all those little-used or unused bras sit in a drawer or fill up landfills when they can be recycled? Bras happen to be one of the most requested items in shelters and transitional programs around the world.
The Bra Recyclers will be spreading the word about recycling bras and collecting gently used or new bras to benefit local charities that support women and girls in transition at The Brazaar Art Showcase and Bra Drive. The event, in collaboration with the Ultimate Women's Expo, will be held on April 26 and 27, 2014 at the Phoenix Convention Center located at 33 South 3rd St., South Building Booth #1017, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Individuals will be showcasing their fun, unique "brazaar" art to celebrate the lives of millions of women and girls who are survivors of breast cancer, domestic violence and human trafficking and become inspiring individuals who motivate us to never take for granted the small things in life, not even a simple lingerie item like a bra. For those ladies who love to shop, some of the artistic bra entries will be offered for sale to benefit local non-profit charities that support families in transition.
Those who stop by The Bra Recycler's booth will have the opportunity to enter a drawing for prizes that include coupons for massages provided by Therapeutic Retreat, gift cards along with a spa robe and shape wear provided by Jockey, bottles of wine provided by One Hope Wine, and gift certificates for delicious baked goods provided by Cookie Girl and Carol's Kitchen. You can also sign up to win these great prizes on www.facebook.com/brarecycling.
"Since this is the time for spring cleaning, we're also encouraging women to clean out their drawers and bring their gently used or new bras to donate for the ultimate bra drive," Elaine Birks-Mitchell, CEO of The Bra Recyclers, said. "Our goal is to collect at least 500 bras."
According to SMART (Secondary Materials and Textile Recycling) Association, the average citizen throws away 70 pounds of clothing each year. Even though 95% of textiles worn or torn can be recycled, only 15% gets donated or recycled and goes into landfills instead. By recycling and re-using these items, people can reduce the amount of textiles that unnecessarily go into landfills while re-shaping the environment and the lives of people who live in our communities.
Tickets to the expo can be purchased at www.azwomensexpo.com. Those who wish to bring gently worn or new bras for recycling to benefit the local charities supporting women and girls in transition can visit www.brarecycling.com to print out a bra recycling form.
