Boyd Construction Company Completes Office Renovation Project for The Penny Hoarder
Renovation is complete on The Penny Hoarder headquarters, located at 661 Central Avenue in St. Petersburg, FL. The design-build project, led by Boyd Construction Company, consisted of the revitalization of the existing shell component of the 94-year-old, 3,100 square foot space.
- Tampa-St. Petersburg-Clearwater, FL (1888PressRelease) May 05, 2016 - With St. Petersburg-based interior designer, Lisa Gilmore-Sarnowski, the building, which had been an unoccupied space since the early 1980's, has now transitioned into an open-concept office with a modern, yet industrial touch. The Penny Hoarder opened its doors in November 2015 with a launch party that celebrated the thriving and fast-growing tech startup.
"It was an amazing opportunity to place such a modern, tech-driven company, in such a historic and vacated building," said Peter Boyd, president of Boyd Construction Company. "We enjoyed being able to combine the two styles to build an eclectic space, while keeping the historical elements of the structure."
Boyd Construction built The Penny Hoarder's headquarter office in 60 days in collaboration with the Lisa Gilmore Design team, making sure that their concepts remained consistent with the brand. Copper fixtures accentuate the space and denote the importance of the penny, while the unobstructed layout promotes an open-door policy that still incorporates small pods for concentration. This layout provides employees the opportunity to meander the office and gather writing inspiration from different settings.
Utilizing the existing structure - which was on the verge of being in disrepair - as a basis for the design, the Boyd Construction team revamped the interior into a modern and diverting workspace. New pronounced fixtures and exposed brick walls coupled with updated flooring and color scheme make the building a valuable addition to the surrounding 600 block of Central Avenue.
"We really enjoyed working with the Boyd Construction team," said Kyle Taylor, owner and founder of The Penny Hoarder. "They're professional, thorough, and a positive group to be around."
The surge in growth that St. Petersburg is experiencing, along with the bountiful amounts of incredible start-ups and entrepreneurs, were the main reasons Taylor chose the city as The Penny Hoarder's home. Additionally, the building is in a prime location of the 600 block, as it is surrounded by a number of local businesses, arts and culture. He believes St. Petersburg is a wonderful place for the company's employees to call home.
