Boston Investment Firm Declares Disaster After Power Outage, Prepares to Relocate to Rentsys Recovery Services' Business Recovery Center
After being affected by a widespread power outage in Boston on March 13, an investment firm prepares to relocate to a suite of Rentsys Recovery Services' Business Recovery Center (BRC) and launch the backup servers the firm stores in the BRC's data center.

The firm notified Rentsys Recovery of the power outage Tuesday at 9:20 p.m., and Rentsys Recovery support staff readied a suite of the 16,000 square-foot BRC in which the firm would resume business operations the next day if power had not yet been restored to the client's main facility.
The firm - which has several data racks with servers stored in the BRC's data center - also dispatched a seven-member IT team to the BRC, where the team worked until 2 a.m. to prepare employee workstations with connections to the client's network and to set up the client's backup systems for use as production systems.
On Wednesday, March 14, the firm learned that power had been restored to its main facility, and the client's production systems were fully recovered and operational. The firm was ready to resume business operations later that morning. "The client was highly satisfied with the declaration," said Rentsys Recovery Account Executive David Tedford. "The process went off without a hitch and fortunately power was restored to the client's main facility in a timely manner."
