In 2015, world's top travel web site Booking.com placed a boutique Nova Scotia accommodation on two of its own Canada top lists: eco-luxury and uniqueness.
Trout Point Lodge greatly appreciates Booking.com's selection of the Lodge for its two top accommodation lists.
(1888PressRelease) January 05, 2016 - Booking.com is the world's largest accommodation reservation site, and lists 8287 bookable properties in Canada. In 2015, it released two rankings that included the 12-unit Trout Point Lodge of Nova Scotia, including its most recent list of the top 10 unique accommodations in the country.
That list has drawn attention from the travel press, and includes a rotating house vacation rental in Prince Edward Island, as well as the Gladstone Art Hotel in downtown Toronto.
In releasing its top 10 list, Booking.com notes that "Trout Point Lodge is the world's first certified Starlight hotel offering some of the best stargazing in the entire world." The travel company owned by Priceline has pinpointed eco-friendly travel as a growth opportunity, and the Lodge fits that market perfectly. The Starlight Foundation named Trout Point the world's first certified accommodation in late 2014.
The rise in interest in sustainable travel is a trend seen around globe, according to Booking.com's survey of 32,000 travellers in 16 countries. The 2015 study found the majority of global travellers influenced by their intention to reduce their environmental impact, or to ensure that their tourism has a positive impact on the local community, when evaluating vacation destinations.
Thus, the second ranking naming Trout Point was a list of properites combining sustainable practices with luxury.
While expressing the desire to travel more sustainably, Canadian survey respondents were not however prepared to forego luxury while reducing their carbon footprint. When compared with other respondents wordwide, aspiring sustainable travellers were: 50% say they are more likely to intend to book more luxury accommodations in 2015 than they did in 2014; Three times as likely to plan to stay in more "green" accommodations in 2015 than they did in 2014.
This combined interest in luxury and green stays creates a unique opportunity for accommodations to woo travellers by offering high-end comfort paired with an eco-sensibility.
According to Booking.com, the top five most luxurious eco-friendly accommodations in Canada are: Trout Point Lodge, East Kempville, Nova Scotia; Around The Sea, North Rustico, Prince Edward Island; Hotel- Musee Premieres Nations, Wendake, Quebec; Goldenwood Lodge, Golden, British Columbia; Wickaninnish Inn, Tofino, British Columbia.
