Boca Regional Urgent Care Announces Free Flu Shots
New State-of-the-Art Health Facility Recognizes National Influenza Vaccination Week With Free Flu Shots.
- West Palm Beach-Boca Raton, FL (1888PressRelease) December 05, 2011 - BOCA REGIONAL URGENT CARE will offer a flu shot clinic on Wednesday, December 7 from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. at its brand new facility, located at 20665 Lyons Road in Boca Raton. In recognition of the CDC's National Influenza Vaccination Week, the center's first 200 adult visitors (18 or older) will receive the flu shots for free.
"Getting immunized against the flu is the easiest and most effective way to reduce the risk of infection. Flu vaccination is important for our entire community, because it not only protects the patient receiving the vaccine, but their families and friends as well," said Evan D. Goldstein M.D., Medical Director of Boca Regional Urgent Care. "We are thrilled to be able to make this service available to the public for free." Goldstein, who is also managing partner of the Emergency Department at Boca Raton Regional Hospital, added that he hopes the free vaccines will encourage people to come see the new state-of-the-art urgent care center.
The federal Centers for Disease Control estimates that each year 5 to 20 percent of the population in the US becomes infected with the flu, and more than 200,000 people are hospitalized annually because of flu-related complications. The CDC recommends that everyone 6 months of age and older get vaccinated, and has designated December 4-10 as "National Influenza Vaccination Week" to highlight the importance of the issue.
