BOC Sciences Continues to Expand Its Chemical Offering with Flavor & Fragrance
BOC Sciences announced to continue to expand its chemical offering with flavor & fragrance.
- New York, NY (1888PressRelease) January 23, 2019 - As the world’s leading chemical supplier of APIs, GMP products, inhibitors, metabolites, impurities and many other general chemicals like natural compounds, BOC Sciences announced to continue to expand its chemical offering with flavor & fragrance on December 18, 2018.
After the launch of this move, now researchers can have easy and quick access to whatever chemical with their desired flavor and fragrance by just entering CAS, FEMA, odor description or taste description in the searchbox of this company’s website. Since earlier this December, BOC Sciences has begun to direct sincere efforts toward products classification on the basis of olfactive family for customers’ convenience.
During the past two decades, more attention has been paid to the flavor & fragrance industry. As estimated, the total market keeps increasing from US$ 9.6 billion in 1995 to nearly US$ 19.9 billion in 2007, and this number is still enlarging recently. Since the actual cause of fragrance lies in the chemicals that constitute the substance, it’s expected that more and more researches will be carried out in the perfume industry.
“Actually, it has long been discussed regarding how to classify odors and different classifications have been proposed, but none of the yet proposed odor arrangements has gained wide acceptance or empirical confirmation. The reason for this is that we are still taking small steps in understanding the perception of odors,” says Prof. Barron, a senior scientist from BOC Sciences.
Early odor classification systems were more largely based on individual expertise from botanists, chemists, or perfumers instead of experimental confirmation. “It was until the emergence of the proposed perfumery radar (PR) methodology that perfume classifications began to be more scientific,” explains Prof. Barron. “The PR methodology considers not only pure fragrances but also their evaporation process and their odor intensity and finally make the evaluation on their overall scents.”
Guided by the industry principles, the chemicals with flavor & fragrance are classified into the following families: Aldehydic, Butter, Ethereal, Fatty, Floral, Fruity, Grass, Green, Melon, Mint, Musk, Sour, Sweet, Violet, Waxy, Woody, and other.
