Black Faith Network: One Man's Mission to Combat Negative Media and Save Black Lives
Owner Maurice Gunn Fights to Reclaim Positive Representation for African American Youth Through Faith-Based Streaming Platform.
- (1888PressRelease) September 19, 2024 - Chicago, IL - Maurice Gunn, founder of the Black Faith Network (BFN), is on a one-man mission to create a platform that uplifts the African American community by combatting the negative content currently saturating mainstream media. While networks like Zeus Network, BET, YouTube, Netflix, and Tubi dominate the screens with content that often glorifies violence, promiscuity, and destructive behavior, Gunn aims to reclaim the narrative with a faith-based, positive alternative.
The Black Faith Network is poised to become a positive platform for faith-driven content that inspires, motivates, and empowers African American families. Gunn’s vision is to change how Black people are portrayed in movies, music, and media—moving away from the harmful stereotypes and destructive messages plaguing today’s entertainment landscape.
“The content we see today is killing our community, especially our youth,” Gunn says. “Our kids are growing up thinking that the only way to be successful is by following the negative images they see in music and film. I started the Black Faith Network because we need a platform that offers hope, faith, and positive representation.”
A One-Man Fight to Save Black Lives:
Gunn’s mission is personal. Growing up in Chicago, he saw firsthand how media influenced the decisions of his peers, many of whom fell victim to violence and negative influences. This experience inspired him to launch the Black Faith Network as a tool to reshape the mindset of young African Americans and offer them content that speaks to their potential, faith, and values.
BFN will feature an array of content, including faith-based movies, podcasts, live broadcasts from churches, uplifting music, and documentaries—all aimed at delivering messages of hope, love, and resilience.
Support BFN’s Mission:
To bring this vision to life and meet the early 2025 launch date, the Black Faith Network is seeking support from the public through its crowdfunding campaign. Every dollar raised will go directly toward building the platform, creating original content, and ensuring BFN is available to as many households as possible.
“We need the community to step up and help us create this much-needed alternative to the toxic media we see today,” Gunn urges. “By supporting our crowdfunding efforts, you’re not just helping launch a streaming service—you’re helping to save lives and change the future of the Black community.”
