  • Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill, NC (1888PressRelease) May 04, 2012 - Dan Fields, AIA and principal at BJAC, pa (http://www.bjac.com), an architectural firm offering professional architectural and design services to healthcare, education, municipal and research clients, has announced that the North Carolina History Center at Tryon Palace, located in New Bern, N.C., has received an Honor Award from the Maryland and Potomac Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA).

The Honor Award is the highest award presented by the ASLA for outstanding planning or design. ASLA's Award Program is designed to encourage professional excellence by recognizing significant landscape architectural projects, bringing public attention to outstanding projects and services, and honoring individuals and firms with professional awards.

BJAC, in coordination with Quinn Evans Architects, led the design and construction of the North Carolina History Center, including the transformation and revitalization of the waterfront and extensive site design and innovative exhibits. The building's design is modeled after the grid pattern of the New Bern town plan created in 1710, including the wharves and warehouses that once filled the downtown harbor, and the regional 19th and early 20th century commercial architecture.
