Bitrix Web Cluster Secures Smooth Work for Large Daily Promo Site
Bitrix announces the first implementation of its recently released Web Cluster technology. Kupibonus.ru, ("buy bonus") which offers one-day-only specials on products and services targeted to women, and has a daily audience of several hundred thousand visitors.

The Web Cluster module of Bitrix Site Manager allows a single site to be distributed among multiple servers. This configuration solves several issues simultaneously and efficiently. A new server can be added to a cluster very quickly in the event of a traffic spike, so that the performance that visitors expect is maintained regardless of the incoming traffic. Furthermore, if one or more servers go offline at any time, the site will continue to provide uninterrupted service as the load is distributed among the remaining working servers in the cluster.

It is especially noteworthy that the Web Cluster technology is integrated directly in the Bitrix Platform. This means that developers using the platform to create sites do not need to make any changes in the code of existing or newly-developed sites to exploit the Web Cluster option. Any new or existing Bitrix-based site can be upgraded and set up on a Web Cluster of interchangeable servers. Kupibonus.ru is the first and only Russian women's portal which gives discounts up to 90% on services at beauty salons, spas, and fitness clubs. Every day, more than 20 new special promotions are posted on the site with discounts of 50 to 90% on services in Moscow and in eleven other Russian cities.
As a website, Kupibonus was launched in 2010 on the Enterprise Edition of Bitrix Site Manager, which contains all of the tools needed to create an effective internet store and interactive website. But in May of 2011, the product was upgraded to the Ultimate Edition in order to guarantee maximum accessibility of the site for the rapidly expanding number of visitors.

The project was implemented by Linemedia - a Certified Partner of Bitrix. The cluster itself consists of seven servers: two for load balancing and output of statistical content, two application servers processing scripts, two servers with replications of the MySQL database and one machine filling the role of backup which creates reserve copies of all new data. The Web Cluster module allows the project to utilize distributed data caching as well as 'smart' load balancing among replications of the MySQL server, handling read and write queries from the database. This increases processing speed and significantly raises fault tolerance in the system. The entire cluster is contained on servers belonging to the client. The results have been more reliability and uninterrupted service by the portal.
Today, the site serves several hundred thousand users, with project partners generating ever-increasing traffic through their access and use of the Kupibonus.ru API. In the near future, new services for club members will come online and will increase the site's usability via an enhanced partner program to allow advertising companies to examine the results of their promotional campaigns very closely. Technical support of the site is carried out by the IT department of Kupibonus.ru with the assistance of Linemedia.
