Biotechnology Research Advisor Joins Panitch Schwarze Belisario & Nadel
Philadelphia intellectual property firm hires new scientific advisor to support patent practice.
- (1888PressRelease) February 24, 2016 - The Philadelphia intellectual property attorneys of Panitch Schwarze Belisario & Nadel LLP are pleased to announce that Dr. Jifang Tao recently joined the firm as a scientific advisor to support the firm's patent work on behalf of clients in biotechnology, pharmaceutical and chemical industries.
Tao will assist in the preparation, filing and prosecution of patent applications, as well as conducting searches and reviews for due diligence, patentability and freedom to operate analyses. She will provide technical support and scientific expertise to assist with all aspects of patent protection, both U.S. and foreign.
"Adding a researcher with Jifang's skills to our team is a natural move for us, as our patent work in the biotech and pharmaceutical fields grows steadily," said Partner Weihong Hsing, Ph.D., who heads the firm's life sciences practice.
Prior to joining Panitch Schwarze Belisario & Nadel LLP, Tao was a postdoctoral fellow at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), where she studied autism spectrum disorders using comprehensive mouse genetics, electrophysiology, biochemistry and genomics techniques. As a graduate student and research assistant at University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), Tao studied protein post-translational modifications and neuronal activity dependent gene regulation. She has published research articles in many prominent scientific journals including Science, Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, The Journal of Neuroscience, and Nature Chemical Biology.
Tao earned her B.S. in Biological Sciences with a minor in English from Tsinghua University, Beijing, with honors, and her Ph.D. in Molecular and Medical Pharmacology from UCLA. She had five years of postdoctoral research experience at MIT, where she was honored with the Rett Syndrome Research Trust Postdoctoral Fellowship. She lives in Philadelphia.
