Biltmore Who's Who Selects Suzanne Dix as an Honored Member of the Executive and Professional Registry
The selection recognizes Suzanne Dix's commitment to excellence in the Art and Retail industries.
- Honolulu, HI (1888PressRelease) July 28, 2010 - Suzanne Dix, Artist and Owner of Dix Studios, has been selected as an Honored Member of the Biltmore Who's Who Executive and Professional Registry. The selection recognizes Suzanne Dix's commitment to excellence in the Art and Retail industries.
Dix, who earned her bachelor's degree in fine art from Pratt Institute in 1974, has been practicing her talents since graduation, after being accepted to and exhibited in the Greenwich Village Annual Art Show.
After being awarded with the Best of Show award through the Fredonia Art Festival in 1974, Dix aspired to do bigger and better things in the art world. But it wasn't until 1995 that she formally opened her own studio in Ocean View. As an artist, she makes all of the drawings and paintings you'll find in her store and she also teaches art classes. As owner, she is also responsible for promotion, marketing and distribution of her products. Dix also does the accounting work, stock maintenance, storage and inventory, as well as shipping.
In addition to all of the formalities of running the business, Dix also works hard to be well informed about worldly events and how people respond to what happens in the world. She focuses her listening skills in order to fully appreciate trends and fulfill client requests. She also nurtures her own voice and talents to remain capable of response to impressions and imagery that motivate her to paint, and she passes on her insights to her students. Thirdly, she stays open to the input of other professionals in her field. "I keep a visible profile out in the world," Dix explained, "so that people know I am working, progressing, and evolving."
With an aspiration to be at the top of her field as a representative of the cultural imagery of our time, Dix is very, very passionate about her work. "I hold the notion that artists shape the future with their creations. I have always believed that truth and beauty could transform the world; notions gotten from and reinforced by my parents and teachers," she added. "That belief inspires and drives me to manifest both truth and beauty in my work." She also noted that she loves to impress her students with these aspirations.
Boasting over thirty-six years of experience in her field, Dix has had exhibitions showcased from the east coast of the United States to Hawaii. Collections of her work span across Japan, Australia, the Netherlands, Spain, England and the US, and her work has been displayed on covers of numerous local publications. In 1993 she became a founding member of Kids' Arts, a foster child art program located in Ventura County, California. From 1999 through 2009, she was featured as a Resident Artist at the Four Seasons Hualalai Resort, where she also taught and sold her artwork. In 2007, the Hilo Art Museum requested a donated painting for their permanent collection. She's won several awards and honors at exhibitions over the years, including a 2006 Paint America, which honored her as one of the Top 50 Artists Painting Hawaii. Dix is also a strong supporter of the Special Olympics. In her spare time, Suzanne enjoys spending time with her family, going fishing and horseback riding.
