Biltmore Who's Who Selects Steven A. Seidenman as an Honored Member of the Executive and Professional Registry

- Baltimore, MD (1888PressRelease) November 20, 2010 - Steven A. Seidenman, Musician for Seidenman's Guitar, has been selected as an Honored Member of the Biltmore Who's Who Executive and Professional Registry.
Seidenman, who holds a Bachelor of Art's Degree from the University of Maryland, began guitar lessons at the age of 8, and by the age of 22 started performing professionally at cafes, libraries and community centers before stepping foot onto the concert stage.
On a typical day, Seidenman practices for at least two hours, but when preparing for a performance he puts in many more hours. "The word practice may mean slightly different things to different musicians," he explained, "depending on the style in question." Broken down into two parts, he typically plays through whatever pieces or technical exercises he needs to first, mostly from memory, in order to reach an adequate level of technical proficiency required to play the repertoire he is working on. The second part concentrates on new repertoire, which means reading through the music and working out the technical and musical demands, eventually leading him to memorize the music. Aside from Seidenman's daily routine of practicing, he also spends a good amount of time transcribing music for other instruments to the guitar, looking for new performance jobs, and promoting his two CDs, entitled "Prelude Impromptu: Guitar Gems from Back to Berkeley" and Guitar Recital.
Being able to participate in the creation of great music, according to Seidenman, whether as a performer or composer, is a constant source of inspiration to him. He has studied with some of the finest professionals in the field and has a solid grounding in the classical repertoire, as well as harmony, which facilitates his interpretive approach to the music. He has also performed in many different venues over his career, including including a performance as a competition winner at the Montpelier Recital Competition in Laurel, Maryland, and as part of the orchestra in a performance of the Broadway musical "The Pajama Game" with the Damascus Theater Company, for which he edited the original guitar score.
Hoping to record a few more CDs featuring new and noteworthy repertoire, Seidenman would also like to get some of his many guitar transcriptions published. He also plans to write a philosophically oriented book on the guitar and its place in the music world, as well as a guitar technique primer. He is a member of the American Philosophical Association and the Izaac Walton League of America, and on some weekends can be found on Maryland's target archery fields.
