Biltmore Who's Who Selects Rayanthnee Patterson as an Honored Member of the Executive and Professional Registry

- Birmingham, AL (1888PressRelease) July 12, 2011 - Rayanthnee Patterson, Coordinator of Asset Building and Housing Counseling for Jefferson County Committee for Economic Opportunity, has been selected as an Honored Member of the Biltmore Who's Who Executive and Professional Registry. The selection recognizes Rayanthnee Patterson's commitment to excellence in the Non-Profit Industry.
Patterson, who began working in non-profit housing in 1978, held her first position assisting the elderly in Greene and Sumter Counties rehabilitate their homes through the Rural Development's single-family housing loan program. Over the last thirty-four years she has continued develop her expertise in the field, most recently accepting a position as a coordinator in 2009.
In her current role, Patterson coordinates the Neighborhood Stabilization Program, a HUD funded program authorized by the Housing and Economic Recovery Act of 2008 that acquires and redevelops foreclosed or abandoned properties. They provide funds to purchase these properties in an effort to rehabilitate them and transfer them in order to stabilize neighborhoods and prevent declines in home values. Patterson also supervises two housing counselors, writes proposals and performs other duties assigned by the Deputy Director of Community Services.
Having learned her profession through countless hours of on-the-job training, self-discipline, specialized trainings and the expertise of others in her field, Patterson said, "We all learn by doing." Thinking ahead, she added, "I would really love to start my own development company working to both construct houses as well as to acquire and rehabilitate houses all for sale to those persons who have been left out of the American dream of home ownership."
Patterson is a certified HELM counselor, HUD-approved home program specialist and EarthCraft House certified contractor/builder. She is a member of the Alabama Association of Community Development Corporation, Low Income Housing Coalition of Alabama, Home Ownership Consortium of Alabama and the Alabama Asset Building Coalition. She recently won an award through the Birmingham Chapter of the NAACP as a Woman of History. When Rayanthnee isn't busy working or volunteering, she enjoys listening to music and cooking.
