Biltmore Who's Who Selects Pauletta Williams as an Honored Member of the Executive and Professional Registry
The selection recognizes Pauletta Williams's commitment to excellence in Education.
- Durham, NC (1888PressRelease) November 24, 2010 - Pauletta Williams, Reading/Literature Teacher at Polk Correctional Institution, has been selected as an Honored Member of the Biltmore Who's Who Executive and Professional Registry.
Williams, who holds a BS in Elementary and Middle School Education from Barber Scotia College, followed by an MA in Curriculum and Instruction in Literacy from Lesley University, has been working in her field since 1980.
Currently, Williams teaches adult inmates how to read, study, and prepare for their GED test, which is offered by the Vance-Granville Community College. Her duties require her to teach them what they need to know to pass the reading section of the GED test. She also teaches test taking skills, critical thinking skills, and strategies for building reading comprehension.
Thankful for the opportunity to complete her masters, and hoping to continue her education in the future, Williams is the first of six siblings to have gotten this far. "Education is ongoing for me," she said. "I always want to be up to date with what is happening in my field." She also hopes to publish her own book based on inspirational poetry and words of encouragement.
Williams is a member of the Correctional Education Association, North Carolina Association of Educators, People to People Ambassador Program, North Carolina Reading Association, International Reading Association, and SENAC. She's received a State Service Award for fifteen years of service with North Carolina. She's also received a Certificate of Achievement in Poetry from Eber and Wein Publishing in 2010 for a poem she wrote, titled, My Family, which was published in a book called Eternal Heartland: Country Road. In her free time, Pauletta enjoys reading, writing poetry, and travelling.
