  • Huntington-Ashland, WV-KY-OH (1888PressRelease) June 03, 2011 - Patrick A. Leggett, School Counselor for Point Pleasant Junior Senior High School, has been selected as an Honored Member of the Biltmore Who's Who Executive and Professional Registry. The selection recognizes Patrick A. Leggett's commitment to excellence in Education.

Leggett, who holds a BA in Hotel and Restaurant Administration from Transylvania University, and two Master's Degrees, one in Organizational Communication Studies and one in School Counseling, both from West Virginia University, began his career in teaching in 1983.

For the past eight years, Leggett has been counseling at the high school level. As a professional school counselor, his work is to develop and implement a comprehensive school counseling program for all students by collaborating with his fellow school counselors, administration team, teachers, school counseling advisory council, staff, local community organizations, students and their families.

"I hope to have the honor and pleasure to serve our young adults and our schools for another decade or more," Leggett said.

Leggett previously taught as an elementary teacher, middle school mathematics teacher and science guide, high school mathematics guide, curriculum specialist and elementary school counselor before working as a high school counselor.

A member of numerous organizations, Leggett served nine years on the board of directors for the West Virginia School Counselor Association, one year as chairman for West Virginia State ACT Council, served on several committees with the West Virginia Department of Education, four years on the advisory board for the Mountain State Counseling Alliance, two years on the West Virginia Learning First Alliance Council and served on several subcommittees of the American School Counseling Association. He also served as president for the West Virginia School Counselor Association, during which time he worked successfully in getting legislation passed that would recognize school counselors with LPC and/or NCC credentials as highly trained professionals and also made a presentation to the Board of Education that would, in a few months, lead to the creation of a full-time school counselor coordinator position. Leggett was named Favorite Teacher in 1994 by the West Virginia Governor's Youth Honor's Academy, was the recipient of a Visionary Award in 1998, and also received a West Virginia State Prevention Award for Educators. In his free time, Patrick enjoys futbol, gardening and listening to music.
