VanName, Owner and Art Director of Sparq Creative, Inc., has been selected as an Honored Member of the Biltmore Who's Who Executive and Professional Registry. The selection recognizes Laurie L. VanName's commitment to excellence in the field of Graphic Design and Marketing.
VanName, who holds a BA in Graphic Design from Wayne State University, began working in the graphics field during her college years in the early 1990s. After graduation she worked for several reputable organizations, including Hallmark and H&R Block, where she gained valuable knowledge and hands-on experience.
With conceptualizing, designing, branding, brand management, web design and art direction/supervision under her belt, VanName decided to form her own business in June of 2008, catering to clients in the healthcare field, private investors and entrepreneurs, information technology companies and start-up companies. She does brainstorming, designing, art directing and logo design and development, corporate identities, business collateral, brand management, newsletters, special events invitations and marketing/advertising materials, web design, magazine and newspaper design, and marketing materials such as brochures, fliers and posters. "I believe that I have a strong sense of what the client wants and how to reach their viewers and readers," VanName said. "I am good at managing projects from concept through delivery and I am very organized."
Hoping to grow her business so that she can focus more on the creative side of the business, VanName would like to increase her client base so she can hire some freelance designers, do more art directing and grow the company. She hopes to have anywhere from ten to twenty employees working under her, including production artists, graphic designers, web designers and developers, writers and copywriters and office personnel. "I would love to hand over the reigns to one of my children someday and let them pursue their creative dreams too," she said.
VanName is a member of American Institute of Grahpic Artists, Treasure Coast Ad Federation, Aerobics Fitness Association of America and has been a US Army Reserves soldier for the past twenty-one years. She is a certified yoga, aerobics, kickboxing and group fitness instructor. She has won numerous healthcare advertising awards, Aster awards, FPRA awards, communicator awards, AIGA awards and print design awards over the years, and several Addy awards, which include silvers, golds, Best of Shows and Judges awards. She has also had some of her fine art pieces featured in museums in both Sioux City, Iowa and Kansas City, Missouri. In her free time, Laurie enjoys traveling, exercising and spending time with her family.
