Smith, Director of Metro Water Reclamation District of Chicago, has been selected as an Honored Member of the Biltmore Who's Who Executive and Professional Registry. The selection recognizes Keith D. Smith, who holds a BA in Computer Science from Roosevelt University, followed by an MBA in Management Information Systems from DePaul University, began working in his field in 1976, before even attending college, as a computer/telecommunications operator for Blue Cross Blue Shield. He has since worked as a senior programmer analyst before attaining a c-level position as the director of information technology for his current company.
Currently, Smith is responsible for the development and implementation of his company's Information Technology Strategic Plan, a component of the tier-one strategic planning activities designed to align current and emerging technologies with other tier-one components. He is also responsible for the efficiency and effectiveness of their current and operational information technology resources, including their voice and data infrastructure, applications software architecture, computer security, business continuity and a $21 million budget. "My progression from computer operations, to a level where my visions are being implemented, provides special insight into the impact of technology implementations," Smith said. "Through hard work, dedication and education I continue to pursue excellence and build on past experiences."
As one receiving consideration for the open CEO position for his company, Smith's twenty-three years of building information systems makes him a strong candidate for the position. Having passed the series 7 and series 66 exams given by the NASD, allowing him to offer securities and investment advice to the public, also enhances his CEO appeal. He's a member of numerous organizations, including the Society of Information Technology, Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers Society, National Association of Clean Water Agencies, Water and Waste Water CIO Forum, Government and Financial Officers Association, and Information Systems Audit and Control Association. In his free time, Keith enjoys golf, basketball and chess.
