Biltmore Who's Who Selects Kaye M. Watson as a Top Ten Member of the Executive and Professional Registry

Watson, General Maintenance Technician at Vanderbilt University, has been selected as an Honored Member of the Biltmore Who's Who Executive and Professional Registry. The selection recognizes Kaye M. Watson's commitment to excellence in Maintenance.
Watson, who holds an Associate's Degree in Computer Technology and Electronics from Nashville State University, and a Bachelor's Degree in Fine Arts from Middle Tennessee State University, has been working for her university for twenty-three years, since 1989. She has been working in her current role for the past six years.
As a general maintenance technician, Watson does basic electrical, carpentry, plumbing and HVAC tasks, including hanging drywall, cleaning roofs, hanging pictures, caulking, and a number of other duties. She is mainly responsible for repairing light fixtures, and checking all dorm rooms for those that need light fixture repair and electrical devices and appliances during the summer months.
"I create my own vision for the end result of my tasks," Watson said. "My vision is to make my buildings operationally sound. I also have a constant desire to learn new skills, as well as improve the skills I already have."
Hoping to either become a journeyman or maintenance supervisor over a group of buildings in the future, Watson plans to continue to do good work and develop her skills for the future.
Watson is a volunteer with the Girl Scouts of America. She was named the first woman to work in the Vanderbilt plant operations trade shops, where she has maintained her buildings successfully over many years with the fewest amount of electrical calls in her zone. She received a universal certification in HVAC and a certificate of completion for completing a one-year series of HVAC classes at McGavock High School in the adult continuing education program. When Kaye isn't busy working, she enjoys reading, art and indoor rowing.
