Biltmore Who's Who Selects Karen Okonowski Dunlap as an Honored Member of the Executive and Professional Registry

- Buffalo-Niagara Falls, NY (1888PressRelease) December 13, 2011 - Karen Okonowski Dunlap, Micro Computer Technical Support Specialist (MCTSS) for Erie 1 Board of Cooperative Education Services (BOCES), has been selected as an Honored Member of the Biltmore Who's Who Executive and Professional Registry. The selection recognizes Karen Okonowski Dunlap's commitment to excellence in Computers.
Dunlap, who holds a BS in Business Management from Empire State University and a BA in Computer Systems from the University of Buffalo, has worked in a variety of professional settings over the past thirty-five years, including healthcare, nonprofit education, the federal government and technical education.
Now responsible for her organization's Disaster Recovery/Business Continuity (DRBC) computer systems, Dunlap maintains their systems with the most accurate information relative to the infrastructure of the company. She also assists others in the coordination and restoration of the Data Center in the event of a catastrophic event.
With aspirations of becoming a senior project manager through her company and to continue offering her fellow employees and upper management the best advice she can from her vast experience, Dunlap is excited for the future. During her days as a surgical intensive care unit manager in healthcare management, she knows that her experiences would serve her well in the future.
"I credit most of my inspiration to a sibling of mine who struggled through a less than happy marriage, yet continued to pursue her professional nursing career and education," Dunlap explained.
Dunlap noted that her mother always encouraged her to do her best and rise to the top, as well as her husband of ten years for encouraging her to work hard. In fact, her husband was so inspired by her dedication to her education, he decided to return to school as well.
While employed with the federal government, Dunlap was a member of the District Training Council. She also received three awards for outstanding performance throughout her career. She also volunteers her time doing fundraising work which focus around the Ride for Roswell Park Cancer Institute in Buffalo, New York. This organization is one of the top cancer research organizations in the country that has made tremendous strides in cancer therapies. Dunlap also spearheaded a neighborhood grassroots organization that prevents the third largest developer in the country from building an access road onto a two-lane country road. When Karen isn't busy working or volunteering her time, she enjoys cooking and bicycle riding.
