Biltmore Who's Who Selects Juanita E. Springate as an Honored Member of the Executive and Professional Registry

Springate, Head Start Center-Based Coordinator for The Family Conservatory, has been selected as an Honored Member of the Biltmore Who's Who Executive and Professional Registry. The selection recognizes Juanita E. Springate's commitment to excellence in the field of Education.
Springate, who holds a Master's Degree in Early Childhood Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Missouri in Kansas City, began in the early 1980s as an early childhood teacher for a faith-based program. Since then, she has served as a Head Start teacher, a Head Start education coordinator, a director of an early childhood program and a consultant to early childhood programs and educators.
In her current role as Head Start Center-based coordinator, Springate works for The Family Conservancy, a Head Start delegate agency of the Head Start Grantee, Mid-America Head Start in Kansas City. She works with Head Start program directors to help them see the big picture of the performance standards and to help them create the systems necessary to maintain quality in their programs. She assists them in writing their service plans, which describe how they will implement their services to children and their families. "I love professional development," Springate said. "I've always loved teaching young children. When I decided to leave the classroom after obtaining my master's degree, I wanted to coach others and strive to inspire them to be the best they can be." She also does community-based training, helping early childhood educators learn and implement best practices in the early childhood field and also works with a Head Start teacher in an intensive coaching project aiding the teacher in understanding and implementing the domains in the tool, Classroom Assessment Scoring System (CLASS), using a curriculum project approach with young children.
Springate is also an associate adjunct professor at Johnson County Community College teaching the Early Childhood Program Administration class to potential early childhood directors. She also teaches Leadership in Early Childhood Programs to current program directors.
Having served on the board of Mid-America Association for the Education of Young Children (AEYC) for over ten years, Springate is also a past-president for the organization. She received an Outstanding Extended Service Award from the organization in 2007 for developing resources for programs attempting NAEYC accreditation. She received the same award in 2010 for leading the board in brave new ways to become a more member-driven agency. In her free time, Juanita enjoys singing in the choir and playing handbells at her church.
