Biltmore Who's Who Selects John T. Tilelli as an Honored Member of the Executive and Professional Registry
The selection recognizes John T. Tilelli's commitment to excellence in Networking and Distribution.
- Richmond-Petersburg, VA (1888PressRelease) December 24, 2010 - John T. Tilelli, Director of Global Operations Support for Westcon Group North America, has been selected as an Honored Member of the Biltmore Who's Who Executive and Professional Registry.
Tilelli, who holds a BS in Biology and Chemistry, with a minor in business administration from St. Bonaventure University, began working in supply chain management/project management almost thirty years ago. Upon relocating to Virginia from New York with his wife in 1981, he accepted his first position in the field for an organization that enabled him to get his feet wet in project management, distribution services and global economy.
As director of global operations for a major network products distributor, Tilelli helps manage the aspect of the business where their partners have a global footprint, by assisting in making sure that their product is where it needs to be in the world when they need it there. Some of his major accounts include: Verizon, Sprint, AT&T, British Telecom, Proctor & Gamble and Johnson & Johnson.
A certified Project Management Professional, Tilelli stresses the importance of this designation. "I worked very hard to earn this certification and it has been a key to my professional success," he explained. "I also believe that to grow, an individual needs to constantly challenge him or herself to learn new things and experience different parts of the business." He noted that being well rounded in so many areas and encouraging teamwork are two areas that have certainly benefited him in his career as a tenured employee with his company.
Westcon, a global, $3 billion company, is a large company that feels much smaller, according to Tilelli. "The opinions and contributions of everyone matters," he said. After becoming ill with meningitis in 1979, he suffered from daily seizures that sometimes measured to five or six, ultimately affecting his daily routine. Westcon however, was very supportive. After thirty years, Tilelli underwent a life-changing surgery that cured him and he has been seizure free now for a year and a half.
Tilelli is a member of numerous organizations, including the Epilepsy Foundation of Virginia of which he also volunteers. He's also an Eagle Scout, a member of the American Productions and Inventory Control Society, Project Management Institute (PMI) and Bethel Lutheran Church of Winchester where he is also a youth leader. He also founded an Epilepsy support group and has had two articles published on his experience in his hometown in March and November of 2010. He has been invited to join the President's Club two times. In his free time, John enjoys reading, watching football, cooking and giving back to the community he lives in.
