Biltmore Who's Who Selects Jerri L. Waterman as an Honored Member of the Executive and Professional Registry
The selection recognizes Jerri L. Waterman's commitment to excellence in Graphic Design and Communications.
- Honolulu, HI (1888PressRelease) October 13, 2010 - Jerri L. Waterman, Production Graphic Artist for West Hawaii Today, has been selected as an Honored Member of the Biltmore Who's Who Executive and Professional Registry.
Waterman, who has been working in newspaper since 1986, began by delivering newspapers to subscribers, before working her way into the mailroom and later landing a first full-time position as a typesetter. Over time, she took on numerous other challenges within the company, in classified, editorial, and circulation. But it wasn't until she began working with computers that she realized first-hand how they were taking over the majority of the press room. It was then that Waterman began to study graphic art.
As a graphic artist for the newspaper, Waterman gathers ads and column copies for specialized pages and builds and maintains business and service directories for two of their newspapers. She processes grocery insert ads weekly for their food editions (she handles one of the largest grocery clients and produces their weekly, full-color, double-truck ads), makes sure that ads are processed through their production processing software, and also builds and proofs state, county, and local legal information for the classified section. Working with a team of four marketing professionals, each bringing in new clients and creating advertising strategies and design ideas, Waterman is constantly on her toes with new ideas and a very busy schedule. "There is no such thing as a nine-to-five schedule," she explained. "I do whatever it takes no matter how long the duration is to accomplish my projects. But I feel really proud once they are completed."
Working for the only daily newspaper on the west side of the big island, Waterman has had the opportunity to learn much more than the average graphic artist in the field. Learning every aspect of the business from the ground up, she feels satisfied and proud of her accomplishments. Looking forward to helping the younger generation at the office find their niche in newspaper, she also looks forward to retirement in the near future. As a singer for the Kona Blend Ladies Capella Quartet, Jerri also enjoys spending her free time painting in water color.
