Biltmore Who's Who Selects Jean-Pierre Desmarais as an Honored Member of the Executive and Professional Registry

Desmarais, who holds a BBA from HEC Montreal, followed by a JD in Business Law from the University of Montreal, has spent the last three decades pursuing a challenging legal career in business.
After being offered the opportunity to work for foreign clients early in his career, Desmarais has been very active representing international business advising them when to acquire, sell and merge with other businesses. After working for his family business as executive vice-president for two years prior, he earned the knowledge and know-how to better understand his current clients' needs. "Clients are much more comfortable when their legal advisors have a broader picture of the business transactions they are contemplating," he explained. In addition, he also assists these clients with financial transactions both locally and internationally.
Raised by a self-made entrepreneur, Desmarais has always looked to his father as a role model. "I learned that you can design your own future if you have the ambition and effort it requires to reach these goals," he said.
Considering a professional change in the future, Desmarais may soon move from being a facilitator of business transactions to becoming a mediator, helping business organizations resolve their litigations in a way that will preserve their ongoing ability to work together to reach common goals.
Desmarais has served on the board of directors for International Network of Accountants and Lawyers for over twenty years and is a member of the Canadian Bar Association and his local Chamber of Commerce. He presided over the 2004 merger of the International Grouping of Lawyers and the InterContinental Consultants to form the InterContinental Grouping of Accountants and Lawyers. He is very involved in numerous charities, including Oxfam-Quebec and the Canadian Cancer Society, where he helps with fundraising, sitting on board of directors and by chairing annual meetings. In his free time, Jean-Pierre enjoys exercising, playing golf and Nordic skiing.
