Biltmore Who's Who Selects Irene Schussler as an Honored Member of the Executive and Professional Registry
The selection recognizes Irene Schussler's commitment to excellence in Education.
- (1888PressRelease) June 30, 2011 - Irene Schussler, Kindergarten Teacher for Burdett School, has been selected as an Honored Member of the Biltmore Who's Who Executive and Professional Registry. The selection recognizes Irene Schussler's commitment to excellence in Education.
Schussler, who holds a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education with a Minor in Drama from the University of Lethbridge, began teaching in 1985 at Coalhust Elementary School. After spending another four years in Nobleford as a kindergarten and having taken time off to raise her three children, she began working with Prairie Rose School Board and has been employed with them for the past sixteen years.
Working with students between the ages of four and seven in preparation for the first grade, Schussler is responsible for all subject areas, especially the English language. With over twenty years experience in her profession, she has seen many changes in the industry.
Planning to continue teaching at the kindergarten level, Schussler looks forward to the changes and challenges that technology will bring to the classroom, improving her teaching skills and her program. She hopes to also find a way to encourage the government to allow for more funding into the kindergarten program, especially for English Language Learners.
Determined to prove herself as a patient and nurturing kindergarten teacher, Schussler said, "God has given me a talent. He has taught me to use it to help and encourage others. I feel that he has given me the tools and abilities to do what I am doing well."
A member of the Alberta Teachers Association and Early Childhood Education Council, Schussler is also a member of the Burdett Christian Reform Church where she is a youth leader and Sunday School Teacher. She was recognized for Fifteen Years of Service with her current school board, and received an award for Ten Years of Service as a 4-H leader. Her works with smart boards in the classroom were also shared recently at a technology conference in Bow Island. When Irene isn't busy working or volunteering, she enjoys gardening, watching sports, especially her children's sports, walking and playing the piano.
