- San Francisco, CA (1888PressRelease) June 10, 2011 - Founder and Architect of Powell and Partners Architects, has been selected as an Honored Member of the Biltmore Who's Who Executive and Professional Registry. The selection recognizes Fred L. Powell's commitment to excellence in Architecture.
Powell, who holds a Bachelor's Degree in Architecture from Stanford University and a Master's Degree in Architecture from the University of California-Berkeley, is a licensed architect with over thirty-seven years experience in the field.
Having realized his passion early on after taking a drafting class in high school, followed by an art class in college, Powell married his love for drawing and creativity with math and engineering into what would become a very long and successful career.
Powell's thriving firm has enabled him to manage project teams through all phases of the architectural and building processes from programming to construction management. He has overseen the office, project management, design, planning, marketing and all staff administration since he opened the office in 1992.
"In the end, I believe that it was fate that led me to opening my office," Powell said. "It was something I was predestined to do."
Knowing that retirement is in the near future, Powell hopes to teach college level architecture courses at his alma mater, the University of California. In the meantime, he continues to drive business and clientele and conduct workshops at the University of California in his free time.
A member of National Organization of Minority Architects and Berkeley College of Environmental Design, Powell is also a board member for Urban League, the American Institute of Architects and the San Francisco Education Foundation. He's the recipient of numerous awards over the years, including a Design Award in 1985, numerous Certification of Recognition and Appreciation Awards, an Orchard Award in 1990, a Legacy Member Award in 2004, amongst others. When Fred is not busy working he enjoys practicing Tai Chi.
