Smith, who studied Business Administration at Virginia State University, has spent the over three decades working in her field. Most recently, she worked for an affordable housing and community development non-profit organization, Step Up To Success, Inc., as founder and executive director.
With more than thirty years experience in low income housing and community development, Smith decided to open her own business management organization in an effort to help small and medium sized businesses. Since 2009, Smith has been providing such things like human resources, benefits and payroll administration to her clients, allowing each of them the liberty to operate without directly staffing a human resources department and giving them the ability to focus on company growth.
"Having spent over thirty years in the non-profit area, assisting people in repairing credit problems to become mortgage ready, finding them suitable mortgage loans and building them homes at affordable rates," Smith said, "I decided to continue my passion to serve through a for-profit company."
Smith is a member of the Better Business Bureau, National Association of Professional Employers Organization, National Association of Professional Women and the Women's Business Network of the Northern Neck. She was also named Woman of the Year in 2010 by the National Association of Professional Women. In her free time, Ellen enjoys reading and traveling.
