Biltmore Who's Who Selects Dr. Robert P. Absil as an Honored Member of the Executive and Professional Registry

Absil, General Manager for Intertek PARC, has been selected as an Honored Member of the Biltmore Who's Who Executive and Professional Registry. The selection recognizes Dr. Robert P. Absil's commitment to excellence in the Oil and Refining industry.
Absil, who earned his BS in Chemical Engineering from Illinois Institute of Technology, followed by his MS and PhD in Chemical Engineering from Northwestern University, has been working in his field since 1984, after obtaining his doctorate degree.
Upon graduation, Absil joined Mobil R&D Corporation, where he worked in the area of zeolite catalysis. After leaving Mobil R&D, he worked for PQ Corporation in the area of non-catalytic applications of zeolites. In 1999, he joined Intertek PARC as project manager before progressing to his current role of GM. Intertek PARC provides pilot plant testing services to the oil and refining, petrochemical, and biofuels industries.
Presently, Absil is responsible for the day-to-day operations of Pilot Plant Services and the Analytical Group, Human Resources, EHS, and Accounting. He provides technical advice and assists clients in solving problems. He develops continuous improvement plans for each group and maintains the Total Productivity Management Program that was implemented early this year. He also plays a vital role in the design and implementation of business development strategies. "I have obtained a wide range of experience in the area of catalysis and pilot plant testing through my education at Northwestern University and work experience at Mobil R&D and Intertek PARC," Absil explained. "I realized early on the importance of team work in achieving company goals and I try to foster team spirit within the company as well."
Hoping to continuously improve his level of technical understanding so that he can contribute to solutions to problems encountered at work, and to further his personal growth and growth of the company, he knows it will continuously involve hard work. "I have always put my heart into the job and assignments," he said. "I try to focus on the details and thoroughly understand the fundamental aspects of each problem."
In addition to holding twenty-six US patents in his field, Absil has also published six papers on chemical engineering topics. He maintains a weblog and is also the writer for his company newsletter. He has also received the Harry McCormack Award from AIChE in 1979. In his spare time, Robert enjoys playing racquetball.
