  • Oakland, CA (1888PressRelease) May 03, 2011 - Dr. Nathan Strong, Professor of Anthropology at The College of Alameda, has been selected as an Honored Member of the Biltmore Who's Who Executive and Professional Registry. The selection recognizes Nathan Strong's commitment to excellence in Education.

Strong, who holds a Master's Degree in Educational Psychology from the University of Rochester, an MA in Anthropology from the University of California and joint PhD degrees in Anthropology and Education, also from the University of California, began his teaching career as a visiting professor of comparative sociology and other social science classes at Sophia University in Tokyo, Japan from 1976-77.

As interdisciplinary chairperson for the College of Alameda's anthropology, sociology and psychology departments, Strong has worked hard to enhance the institution's social/behavioral science programs in ways that meet the current needs of an emerging generation of students and global citizens. Over the years, he has also endeavored to build and support interdisciplinary academic programs that recognize and utilize the utility of collaboration in meeting many emerging human challenges that reflect our changing world.

"As a college educator and public genealogical/ancestral DNA community projects coordinator," Strong said, "I have consistently been responsive to those constituencies who seek scientific insights or knowledge concerning human variability and commonality." He has also sought to convey and consider the irrefutable impacts on the interdependence of our human experiences.

Having been inspired by an increase in public interests, Strong feels that levels of inspiration will dramatically continue to increase for him and future generations of educators. Hoping to continue in his path of educating young minds and enabling successive generations, he strives to be a constant and reliable guide.

Strong has written numerous publications in his field that reflect his humanistic passions and desires to explore, help others and teach through sound and rigorous scientific inquiry. He has also been named to several Who's Who publications in recognition of his teaching. He is the recipient of a Golden Apple Outstanding Teacher Award in 2004 and was nominated for the Faculty of the Year Award through the University's Alumni Association in 1995. He has accepted International Academic Conference Invitations to Russia, Taiwan, China and Japan, and has recently received an invitation to attend a scheduled Citizen Ambassador Delegation to Jordan by People to People International in September of this year.
