The selection recognizes Lonnie Hinton's commitment to excellence in Sports Management.
Hinton, who holds a Bachelor's Degree in Criminology from Rochville University, an MBA with a specialization in Sports Management, a Doctorate of Arts in Law with a specialization in Sports Management and Medical Science, both from Bedford University, a Doctorate of Physical Therapy with a specialization in Neurology, Sports and Orthopedics, a PhD in Philosophy in Computer Engineering and Biology, and an EdD with a specialization in Dispute Resolution from Concordia University, founded his organization in 1991 under the name of Hinton Associates before becoming Hinton Football in 2006 and now Hinton Athletics.
Prior to taking on his current role, Hinton served as director of operations and later general manager of Source Sports Academy. He joined Sports Management Worldwide in 2006 at the NFL Combine Conference.
Based in Winterhaven, Hinton is a much valued strategic consultant with knowledge in sports and business. He has an exceptional understanding of sports, cultural economic factors influencing young athletes, and analyses potential prospects with a very unique and valuable style. His job as an agent advisor is to make the most successful athlete and professional possible, both on the inside and out, and to educate his clients on all available options and the best interests for them to pursue. He advises the sports coordinator and coaches on technical issues, assists in designing league and play-off schedules, reviews results and rankings, handles disciplinary actions, attends many events, makes presentations, sits on the Eligibility Review Committee and is co-chair of the pre- and post-season meetings.
Inspired by his parents to be successful in his career, Hinton aspires to one day become an NFL general manager.
Hinton served in the US Navy Seals for four years, having served in Desert Storm and receiving both a Purple Heart and Silver Star. He is a retiree of law enforcement after twenty years of service and over two thousand felony arrests as assistant chief of police. While a sophomore year in college, he developed a new technological breakthrough in the microstrip circuit design, a test fixture that is used to reduce noise, while attending a research program at the Carnegie Mellon University in Pennsylvania. He has conducted engineering research at MIT and medical research at East Tennessee State University Medical School. He currently serves as commissioner of Spartan football and basketball leagues.
