Beginning in 1976, Italian native D'Amico Ford decided to pursue her childhood career in the beauty industry. Twenty-four years later, she bought the salon that she was working for, bringing three of her co-workers in with her as partners. The salon, whose business has tripled since the doors re-opened and is still growing today, plans to expand for a second time with a current staff of thirty-eight.
As owner, D'Amico Ford oversees and orders most of the professional product selections for retailing, heads marketing and promotional pieces for print and in-house promotions and specials, conducts and oversees staff meetings and context used, conducts staff reviews and initiates goals. She also makes all executive decisions concerning growth of the salon and staff and what direction to take, as well as motivating and educating her staff to keep up with the ever changing trends of the industry. "I wear many hats in the salon," she said. "I'm a stylist, a mentor, and the go-to person whenever we encounter difficult challenges."
An educator for Paul Mitchell Hair Care Company for some twenty-five years, D'Amico Ford has reached the highest level of Master Educator and has traveled the world teaching her craft. She attends many seminars for advanced hair programs and business seminars, has worked with designers for the New York City Fashion Week for ten seasons, and has worked on such celebrities such as Paul Newman, Meryl Streep, Joanne Woodword, Paris Hilton, Jane Seymour, the Beastie Boys, soap stars and famous models. Her work has been photographed in numerous magazines, she's done many television commercials, and has even appeared on the QVC network as a spokesperson.
Concentrating on salon expansion, D'Amico Ford prides in quality customer service, making her clients happy and empowering her staff. "I want to continue to share the accumulated knowledge that I have received to my staff and empower them with that knowledge so they can grow, which is so rewarding."
D'Amico Ford has won numerous awards over the years, including an Outstanding Educator Award, several Educational Contribution awards, and first and second place trophies in hair competitions. In her free time, Carla enjoys fine dining, cooking and watching movies.
