Biltmore Who's Who Selects Barbara A. Moore As An Honored Member Of The Executive And Professional Registry

Moore, Hazardous Materials Permitting Program Specialist for Montgomery County Government, has been selected as an Honored Member of the Biltmore Who's Who Executive and Professional Registry. The selection recognizes Barbara A. Moore's commitment to excellence in the field of Government.
Moore, a seventeen-year veteran in her field, began working for the Office of Emergency Management and Homeland Security for Montgomery County in February of 1994.
In her current role, Moore handles all of the hazardous materials use permits for commercial businesses in the county that store chemicals on their commercial premises in aggregate amounts, starting at five gallons or fifty pounds. She reports to the division chief of operations for emergency management, but is in charge of dealing with all of the business on a day-to-day basis, including meeting with them so they can get the required permits to store these chemicals. "Over the course of time," she said, "I have learned about chemicals through training, conferences and seminars. I relate with the businesses in a way that puts them at ease when meeting me. When I started in emergency management I was fascinated by the way emergencies were handled in the operations center and have never had the desire to leave the department."
Hoping to have all of the businesses in Montgomery County current in their online program (they went completely online in 2008), Moore is excited about her future employment within her department. "After going completely online two years ago I was the frontline person of contact and my promotions that I received made it a foregone conclusion that I should be handling this," she said.
Moore is coordinator for LEPC Public Information and does lecturing and public speaking on occasion for Quarterly LEPC meetings and commercial business meetings. In her free time, Barbara enjoys sewing, reading and traveling.
