Biltmore Who's Who Member Candy Lopitz Releases First Book on Ex-Cult Member Recovery
The 482 page book, written for survivors of spiritual abuse and those seeking to assist them in their journeys to recovery, was just released through Xulon Press.
- Syracuse, NY (1888PressRelease) April 23, 2011 - Candy Gwen Lopitz is the Author of Spiritual Battery: Hope for Cult Casualties - Help for Those Assisting Their Recovery. The 482 page book was just released through Xulon Press and is now available through XulonPress.com, Amazon.com and BarnesandNoble.com. It was written for survivors of spiritual abuse as well as for those seeking to assist them in their journeys to recovery.
"It is my sincere hope that this book will be instrumental in reaching out to individuals whom I might not otherwise be able to meet and help," said Lopitz, who holds a Bachelor's Degree in Behavioral Science from Mercy College.
Lopitz began counseling battered women, adult children of dysfunctional and abusive family systems and substance abusers in the early 1990s. In 2006 she founded Freedom Beacon Ministries, a non-profit organization that is dedicated to providing cult exit counseling and solid biblical teaching.
Having been raised in a cult during her childhood, Lopitz became very passionate about helping cult survivors who had been unable to find the counseling they needed through local mental health facilities.
"The cult experience is highly personal to me. Defecting from a cult gave me an appreciation for how difficult it is for ex-cult members to integrate into larger society," Lopitz explained.
In addition to her most recent book, Lopitz is the administrator of two online ex-cult member support groups. She also speaks at area churches and colleges to educate the public about cult related issues. In addition, she has produced over thirty topical brochures and numerous YouTube videos concerning cults.
Lopitz is a member of the American Association of Christian Counselors and was ordained as a minister in March of this year through the National Association of Christian Ministers.
