Billion Launches Intelligent Streetlight Control and Management System to Enrich Smart Lighting Deployment
Billion today announced to unveil two Intelligent Lighting Control and Management Systems (LCMS) for its smart lighting deployment: narrowband power line communication system and broadband wireless system.
- (1888PressRelease) December 13, 2012 - Billion Electric Co., Ltd. (Taiex: 3027, trading as Billion), a leading Asia Pacific-based provider in communications, smart grid, smart lighting, and smart energy management solutions, today unveils two different Intelligent Lighting Control and Management Systems (LCMS): narrowband power line communication system and broadband wireless system to enhance its smart street lighting portfolios, further helping city authority gain greater intelligence and reliability in relation to its entire streetlight asset.
"As the roadway lighting infrastructure can be highly varied and complex, we integrate our solutions with two different kinds of communication technologies: power line communication technology and IP-based broadband RF mesh technology, enabling the administrators to centrally manage and control the streetlight networks," said Tim Chen, CEO of Billion Electric.
"The key value of Billion intelligent lighting solutions is our central management system integrated with Google map. Currently, our solutions have been adopted in a few field trial projects located in China, Southeast Asia, and Central and South America. We devote ourselves to continuously optimizing this smart lighting system to meet the requirements of different countries."
The Billion LCMS network technologies provide wired NPLC (Narrowband Power Line Communication) and wireless RF communication solutions to meet different requirements and budget plans. The Billion LCMS PLC lighting network uses power line communication technology to control outdoor lights. The infrastructure includes a power line control box (Billion SG7200) and a segment controller to create networking of intelligent outdoor lighting. This power line control box is embedded in the light head to control the LED driver by giving control signals. It can be installed either inside or outside of the outdoor LED light fixtures.
The Billion LCMS wireless street lighting network uses IP based broadband RF mesh technology. The wireless networking infrastructure consists of wireless control box (Billion SG5300) which is embedded in the light head. This smart infrastructure technology provides powerful path diversity to optimize the communication automatically. Every wireless control box in Billion LCMS wireless networking system can serve as an end-point node as well as a repeater, enabling the system to accelerate the response time.
"The most distinct feature of our intelligent lighting system is Google map and off-line map integration, making the streetlights management easy and convenient. The sunset/sunrise time is calculated for different locations around the world to provide precise streetlight on/off to reduce energy consumption. We also design a streetlight installation App that allows administrator to locate the streetlight by using a smart phone and then transfer data to the back-end system for Google map integration. By automatically dimming control functionality, our LED lighting solution can save energy up to 75% ~ 80% compared with conventional HPS (High-Pressure Sodium) streetlights," said Terry Liu, Innovative Technical Director of Smart Grid, Billion Electric.
