(1888PressRelease) January 10, 2011 - New York, NY - The weekend of December 17th, Mark Wahlberg, star of the new Paramount Pictures film, The Fighter, joined retired Intrepid Sea Air Space Museum President and longtime military supporter Bill White on a two day trip to Afghanistan to wish the troops happy holidays and preview Wahlberg's new movie, The Fighter. Wahlberg and White spent 2 days in Afghanistan, visiting military personnel stationed there during this Christmas week and for the holidays.
"Watching Mark interact with the troops was really something special," said Bill White, retired President of Intrepid and Chairman and CEO of Constellations Group, who accompanied Wahlberg on the trip graciously sponsored by the USO. "You could see how much the young men and women appreciated his visit and generosity. It is really great to see someone of Mark's stature make such a commitment to our troops, especially around the holidays."
Wahlberg, along with Intrepid Trustee Georgette Mosbacher, CEO of Borghese Cosmetics, donated more than 2,000 $15 iTunes gift cards to the troops during the visit.
"Our brave men and women are making a tremendous sacrifice to defend our country," said Mosbacher. "The holidays are a difficult time to be away from their families and loved ones. Mark felt that donating the gifts cards would be a nice way to thank them for their service and I was honored to join him in this wonderful and sincere gesture of support for our troops."
The trip to Afghanistan was organized by the USO and coordinated by Bill White, Chairman and CEO of Constellations Group, a NYC strategic communications consulting firm whose cornerstone mission is to advocate for causes important to our nation's military, veterans and their families.
