  • (1888PressRelease) August 11, 2010 - Europe's leading RFID supplier to the library market, Bibliotheca RFID Library Systems, is celebrating an award for innovation from IBM. The accolade recognises Bibliotheca's outstanding business achievements in the field of self-service solutions.

Bibliotheca's aim is for smarter libraries and it successfully launched a highly innovative solution featuring state-of-the-art RFID technology and a self-check solution on the IBM AnyPlace Kiosk. The IBM AnyPlace Kiosk forms the touch screen and integrated PC component in Bibliotheca's SelfCheck range.

Johannes Rogg, Managing Director of Bibliotheca UK, says, "More and more libraries are turning to RFID as part of their drive towards self-service, to increase security and for more efficient stock management. 24 hour, 7 day support is crucial for many of our library clients who are offering their customers a round-the-clock service.

"We're proud to work with IBM for a key component in our SelfCheck kiosks, as their reputation for quality chimes with our own desires to achieve high environmental standards, a strict policy on human rights, high quality products, extensive service and long-lasting support."

At the presentation in Hamburg, Germany, in July, Thomas Ehrle, Bibliotheca's Head of Technology, received the Retail Store Solutions Innovation Award from Michael Dimde, IBM Retail Store Solutions North East Sales Leader, and Berthold Schneider, IBM Head of Retail Store Solutions for Austria and Switzerland.

Bibliotheca is Europe's number one RFID supplier to the library market, specialising in RFID solutions for libraries since 2002. UK customers include Manchester City Council where every library will benefit from Bibliotheca RFID machines in a three-year project. Bibliotheca is the second largest global provider of practical, scalable RFID solutions, providing services to 37 countries across the world and 400 installations worldwide.

With its research and development base and headquarters in Switzerland, and offices across the world, Bibliotheca last year expanded to launch a direct operation in the UK based in Castle Donington, Derbyshire.
