Beware of Cheap Replacement Auto Parts
Consumers and do-it-your-selfers should use great caution when purchasing cheap steering and suspension parts commonly found online.
- Orlando, FL (1888PressRelease) September 21, 2013 - Consumers and do-it-your-selfers should use great caution when purchasing cheap steering and suspension parts commonly found online. Parts such as control arms and ball joints that support the front wheels, are often found not being manufactured to original equipment specifications. It has also been found that the proper grade metals are not being used when the parts are manufactured. Additional replacement parts to be aware of include tapers on ball joints and faulty fasteners such as nuts and bolts.
Larry Perry, President of the Magic Mechanic auto service center in Orlando, FL and host of the Magic Mechanic Show (aired Saturday's from 3:00 to 5:00 PM on News 96.5 FM), cautions that cheap after-market suspension and steering parts can be found online for as much as 50% off a name brand part and, because of the savings, consumers often purchase them to save money. However, they can be risking their life to do so.
Perry states, "Most of these online parts won't fit the vehicle because of the poor quality and will need to be returned. But for those few who are determined to use them anyway, let's just hope they have good insurance!"
